site search question

I've got a question here: I've noticed that there are times that the site search will yield no results, and other times it will perform as expected, and I'm noticing differences in the search url between the two.
If the search edit box on the main page contains the phrase "Enter keywords" without the quotes, any search will produce no results, even though I delete the phrase already in the box and replace it with my own query. For instance, Stephen King produces the following url, but no search results:
http://lynchburgkickboxing.com/search/?t=-1&search=stephen+king
On the other hand, if the search edit box is blank, the search for Stephen King produces the expected results, and of course there are a ton! The url for that search looks like this:
http://lynchburgkickboxing.com/search?val=stephen%20king&index=3
Most of the time, I'm met with the first option for searching when on the site, and all searches turn up blank. Can anyone tell me what's going on, and if there is a fix? Thanks for any help.

If you have to delete the phrase in the box, that is, if it does not disappear when you click the box to type, there may be a problem with the javascript in your browser.

Hmm, interesting. I'll look into that. Thanks. Maybe it's time for a Firefox refresh.

Ok, no joy. Things seemed to be behaving for a while, but we're back to my issues in the first post. If "index=3" is not present at the end of the search url, all searches still turn up blank. And, as suggested above, javascript is turned on, and is still so after a Firefox refresh. Chrome yields the same results. As I am blind, the UseNet chat doesn't seem to be screenreader friendly, so must ask here in case there are other ideas/suggestions. Thank you.

First if you think there is a site wide issue, these should be posted in Issues found in left menu. Second, if you go to rocket.chat you can download standalone clients. There is even phone apps. I'll try to re-produce your problem.

Well I think it's easier if you just post the links instead of me trying a bunch.

If you think it's just you, you are welcome to hit me up on chat. Otherwise Issues.

I'm unable to re-produce

index defines what you are searching

3: names and names in rar files
2: NFO contents
1: names in rar files

if index is not defined it will use all three sources

Thank you OP for playing with things a bit. Since you can't reproduce, I'll assume it's at my end somewhere, and it works part of the time so will just need to figure out why. :) Thanks also for the explanation on the indexes. I've been hearing from others in the blind community that screenreaders can work with various chat and CBoxes with some tweaking, so will work on that too so I can keep things where they need to be.

OP: Just noticed your message about rocket.chat. Will look at that too. Thanks. :)
